Happiness

Original watercolour painting titled Happiness, depicting a calico cat with bright green eyes looking directly at the viewer.

Happiness - the beautiful, loving stare that only a cat can give.

There’s something wonderfully joyful about being looked at like this. Bright-eyed, curious and completely present, she seems to hold all the simple pleasure of the moment in her gaze.

I wanted the painting itself to carry that same warmth, using earthy, glowing pigments to reflect the softness and richness of her fur. As the colours developed, they seemed to heighten the feeling already there, affection, delight and that uncomplicated happiness that can exist in such a small moment.
Happiness - wrapped in a ball of fur.
