Curiosity
Curiosity - that instinct to look a little closer, try something differently and see what might happen.
There’s something wonderfully alert but gentle about him. He has come right up to investigate, ears forward and gaze attentive, as if genuinely interested in whoever is standing in front of him.
That same sense of curiosity shaped the way I painted him. I used my non-dominant hand, interested to see what would happen if I let go of some control. The marks became looser, less predictable and more instinctive - and I loved what emerged.
