Belonging
Belonging - the feeling of being part of something larger, while knowing that your place within it matters.
What first caught my attention was the vastness of the sky, the warmth of the landscape and the small figure walking with a dog in the distance. I wanted the figure to feel small against the scale of the landscape, yet remain the focal point, a quiet expression of how we can be part of something much larger while still having our own meaningful place within it.
For me, the painting became about that sense of belonging: being one small part of something vast, while knowing that you have a place within it, and that your presence matters.
